To find books on your topic, connect to LION and use the menu item for Subject Keyword. Use the Other Locations command to locate books in the RMWC or Lynchburg College Libraries. We can order books on Interlibrary Loan from all area libraries. The forms are available at the Circulation Desk. 


DICTIONARIES AND ENCYCLOPEDIAS
  • Encyclopedia Britannica has information on religions of the world, and every other topic imaginable. Its articles often include internet links to more WWW sites.
  • Literature Resource Center is a full text collection of biographical and critical information on world authors and their works.
  • Magill on Literature is a full text collection of biographical and critical information on world authors and their works. It includes the MasterPlotsseries.

    PERIODICAL LITERATURE

    Start your search for periodical articles on the Sweet Briar College Library Web Page. This has a link to Expanded Academic Index includes over 1500 journals both scholarly and popular are indexed here. Many of these journals include full text articles that can be printed, downloaded or e-mailed to your campus address. SIRS Reseacher is a full text database of popular magazines and newspapers appropriate for current event research.
    MLA Bibliography is part of the OVID set of databases and indexes journals, books and conference papers in the fields of language and literature. 

    Lexis-Nexis is one of the world's largest databases. All of the information is full text and may be printed or saved to a disk. It includes world news on all topics, country profiles, and well as international legal and business information. 

    JSTOR is a database of full text article in the social sciences, literature, philosophy, history and mathematics. 

    FirstSearch includes the database Humanities Abstracts, Social Sciences Abstracts, and Biography Index all of which index major scholarly journals. Another database appropriate for this subject is Article First which indexes 12,500 journals both scholarly and popular. Both databases can be searched by subject, author or title. Searches can also be limited by year or language. Citations can be printed, downloaded or e-mailed to your address.

    Project Muse is a searchable collection of journals published by Johns Hopkins University. You can read, download or print full text articles from a wide variety of scholarly journals.

    Connect to LION to check the SBC Library catalog for holdings information on the journals you need. If the journal is not held by the SBC Library, come to the circulation desk and fill out an Interlibrary Loan Form.
